The theory as to the origin of the name LAWSIN is believed to descend from two roots; either the taiwanese (malayo-polynesian) or the europeans (portuguese-spanish). The name Lawsin is a variant of Lausin. Don Pablo Acuin Lawsin, who was Justice of the Peace at his time, legally converted the surname LAUSIN to LAWSIN. This transformation was authentically unfolded by Chief Engineer Vincent (Titing) Lawsín and Ramon Lawšin Jr, (Ramy) who both claimed that LAWSIN was actually spelled LAUSIN. Even to these days, there are still some relatives, specifically from Don Gregorio Balida Lawsin lineage, who opt for the lastname Lausin instead of Lawsin.
